Malaga boss Michel has been left annoyed after his side failed to beat Numancia on Tuesday evening in the Copa del Rey.
The La Liga side took the lead through Recio’s outstanding free kick and looked destined for a crucial first leg win as they entered stoppage time but Nacho stroked home from the edge of the area to equalise on 92 minutes, before in the 95th minute – Alberto Escassi’s header hit the post only for him to nod home the rebound and give Numancia a lead to take to La Rosaleda in a month’s time.
“It’s incredible, we can’t even put a Band-Aid on the situation,” said the Spanish coach to reporters.
“Given how needy and greedy we are, we can’t give [the game] away in the last 10 minutes, allowing our opponents to play.
“Far beyond that, every time we went past their midfield, we weren’t able to string three passes together, and that’s very difficult to control.
“We lacked strength and the final ball. We got into comfortable situations but didn’t resolve them well.
“We lacked a lot of things, especially in the last five minutes, when they scored twice against us.
“It’s as if we want to make things complicated for ourselves. I’m annoyed. My future doesn’t matter. I’ll never be disillusioned, but I will be annoyed.”
Elsewhere, Barcelona began the defence of their title with a confident performance and 3-0 win away to Real Murcia.
Ernesto Valverde made many changes as expected but it was still a strong side he named for the Tuesday evening fixture.
However it took them until the last minute of the first half to open the scoring. Gerard Deulofeu picking out Paco Alcacer who directed his header into the back of the net.
Two goals in five minutes then made for a more comfortable ending as Deulofeu slid the ball into the far corner of the net before youngster Jose Arnaiz smashed the ball home from 20 yards for number three.
