Barcelona will hold off a move for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and wait until next summer, La Liga News UK understands.
Barca officials and Coutinho will hold a meeting over a proposed move next week in Liverpool, according to reports but it is now thought a potential move will take place next summer.
Having failed with multiple bids over the summer, Barca are still determined to make Coutinho a new arrival at the Camp Nou next summer before the World Cup in Russia.
Spanish press have been rife in their attempts to cause problems between Coutinho’s club Liverpool and the Catalan club, and it is now claimed that a meeting has been set for next week.
The said meeting will feature Barcelona officials, Coutinho, his agent Kiavash Joorabchian and a Liverpool director.
Liverpool’s owners Fenway Sports Group have seemingly changed their stance on Coutinho’s availability in recent weeks, but it is unlikely they will part with the play maker in January and instead look for a substantial figure next summer.
Coutinho has started the season in superb form club Liverpool, who thumped Maribor 7-0 on Tuesday evening in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Barca have surprised some after a poor summer of transfer – remaining unbeaten in the league and Champions League.
