Getafe stunned Real Sociedad on Sunday morning, beating the Basque side 2-1 at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
The visitors took the lead after just five minutes when former Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj picked up the ball and played in Mikel Oyarzabal, who fired a superbly taken first time finish into the bottom corner.
The home side however, battled back after a fairly poor first half and they found a deserved equaliser after 78 minutes as Francisco Portillo found Angel Rodriguez, who controlled the ball on his chest and fired home.
Inigo Martinez was then the victim as he hauled down Rodriguez in the area and Jorge Molina stepped up to secure three points.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid saw a 1-0 lead vanish as Catalan side Girona battled back to send a shock around the Spanish top flight.
Isco broke the deadlock for the visitors, before Cristhian Stuani and Portu scored in the second half to seal the points.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, league leaders Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao thanks to goals from Leo Messi and Paulinho.
Whilst, Valencia, who sit in second place beat Alaves away from home.
A 2-1 victory over Alaves ensured they remained their for another round of fixtures, thanks to goals from Simone Zaza and Rodrigo.
Italian international Zaza lashed home in the ninth minute to score a goal which was his ninth in the league, whilst Spanish international Rodrigo smashed home the winner from the penalty spot in the second half.
Central defender Alexis scored for the home side, who are now sat in 19th place – four points from safety, just above Malaga.
