Having suffered a 2-1 defeat to Girona on Sunday evening, Real Madrid are now in the middle of their worst ever run under Zinedine Zidane.
Never a man of emotion, the French boss has remained calm this season after a number of frustrating performances and results from his side, however, he can not hide away from the fact this is their worst form under him as head coach.
Success has been nothing short of excellent under Zidane for Madrid, but they now sit eight points behind rivals and league leaders Barcelona.
Zidane, who took over in January 2016 from Rafael Benitez guided the club to a Champions League honour and a La Liga title last season, but he now finds himself in a similar position to that of Jose Mourinho in the 2011/2012 season after 10 rounds of fixtures.
Mourinho found himself eight points behind Barca and he failed to get Madrid back into a title challenge, begging the question if the French boss can face that challenge.
In the Champions League, Madrid are just one win away from qualification to the knockout stages and they could gain that at Wembley on Wednesday evening when they face Tottenham Hotspur.
But, it is in the league where they must improve and they need to do that when they face Las Palmas at the weekend
Forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who has just one goal in the league this season is also coming under scrutiny from the club’s fans, with Isco being Zidane’s main threat going forward at present.
Growing injury concerns are also a problem with Keylor Navas, Dani Carvajal, Mateo Kovavic and Gareth Bale all out.
A massive challenge now awaits Zidane; his first at the helm of Madrid….
