Barcelona youngster Abel Ruiz has revealed his ambition to make the first team at the Camp Nou; whilst reports also claim he is waiting a new and improved contract.
The 19-year-old’s current deal expires in June 2019, but talk has commenced over a potential new deal with the Catalan side.
Ruiz’s agent, Sergio Barila has received several offers from rival clubs who have been paying close attention to his exploits with Barca’s youth sides and for his country at youth level.
The young striker has made 16 appearances for the youth side, scoring three goals and making two assists.
In an interview with Catalan daily Sport, Ruiz is said to have discussed his desire to make the first team at Barcelona.
“I try to do the best possible and help the team so I can reach the top level. If I’m good or not, that’s up those who see me to say.
“I’ve always told Barcelona I wanted to stay here as long as they want me, and I’ll stay like that until I think they don’t have confidence in me. Clearly.
“If I’ve stayed here it’s because I want to arrive at Camp Nou. It’s a dream that we have since we’re in the cantera and I hope it comes true.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona midfielders Andre Gomes and Sergi Roberto sustained injuries during Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Olympiakos and are expected to miss over a month.
The 25-year old Spaniard, who has featured more regularly this season, most often at right-back is set to miss five weeks after a torn hamstring strain during the draw which saw him hobble off at the interval.
Gomes is expected to be sidelined for around three to four weeks with a hamstring injury after coming on against Olympiakos in the final 15 minutes.
The Portuguese international has featured 11 times this season, although seven of those have been as a substitute.
A statement on Barca’s official website explained both had sustained injuries and will undergo further tests on Wednesday to determine the full extent and length of time unavailable.
