Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has insisted that his relationship with Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos is ‘respectful’.
The Spanish pair have been involved in some heated debates during a season which saw Madrid win more than Barcelona for the first time in a number of years, capturing the Champions League and La Liga title.
A number of incidents involving Pique and Ramos suggested that their relationship, which is good when both play for Spain, had taken a sour turn but the Barcelona centre back has played down such reports.
“This is a show that people consume a lot. Sergio and I know our relationship, it is very respectful and very cordial,” he told Movistar.
“When we get together here, we get closer. We are two who have been here for a long time.
Ramos will play no part in Spain’s friendly against Colombia this evening following the Champions League final win over Juventus at the weekend.
