Real Sociedad and Eibar will face off in one of six Basque derbies this season (also involving Athletic Bilbao and Alaves) at the Anoeta on Sunday evening.
La Real come into this game on the back of a resounding 3-0 victory over FK Vardar Skopje in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening. Goals from Juanmi, Alberto de la Bella and Jon Bautista kept Sociedad in second place in the group needing just one more point from their last two games to qualify.
Their last league outing however wasn’t quite as successful as they went down 2-1 at Getafe despite having taken an early lead though Mikel Oyarzabal.
That defeat saw Getafe creep up on the Erreala who now sit in 9th place just one point of clear of last week’s victors and Espanyol.
Visitors Eibar came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to Levante last Sunday, their first point in five league games, and now find themselves just above the drop zone in 17th place.
The fact that the side from the Ipurua have had a few days extra rest may play in their favour but they will still have a tough task to overturn the hosts on their own patch.
The home side have no new injury concerns but remain without long term absentees Carlos Martinez and Imanol Agirrexte as do Eibar with Fran Rico, Pedro Leon, Ivan Ramis and Yoel Rodriguez still missing.
Gonzalo Escalante also misses out as reported last week when he picked up an injury against Levante with Dani Garcia suspended.
