Valencia won again as they beat Leganes 3-0 on Saturday afternoon to put pressure on league leaders Barcelona.
Marcelino Garcia Toral has worked wonders this season with Valencia and his side recorded their eighth straight victory in La Liga thanks to goals from Dani Parejo, Rodrigo and Santi Mina.
Club captain Parejo has been outstanding this season for Marcelinho and it was him whose clever free-kick went under the Leganes wall to put the hosts 1-0 ahead.
Leganes had only conceded five goals heading into the fixture but they found their opposition too good.
Claudio Beauvue did have a good chance to fire level, whilst Eraso also came close.
Goncalo Guedes almost notched his fourth goal of the season, but the midfielder’s effort struck the post as the first half came to an end.
The hosts made it 2-0 after 70 minutes as Rodrigo continued his rich scoring form, heading home Andreas Pereira’s cross.
Santi Mina would then add a third to ensure Valencia became the highest scoring side in the league this season with 30 goals.
The result did put them one point behind league leaders Barcelona, but Paco Alcacer’s double against Sevilla later on Saturday evening ensured the four point gap was re-opened.
