Girona picked up an impressive victory over in-form Levante on Saturday afternoon.

Borja Garcia put Girona ahead at the Ciutat de Valencia Stadium with a long-range shot into the top corner just before the hour mark, and former Levante striker Christian Stuani netted in the final ten minutes.

The lone goal for the hosts was scored with a header by Enes Unal in injury time, who arrived on loan from Villarreal last week.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Alaves beat Espanyol 1-0 on Saturday evening thanks to a goal from Christian Santos after just 45 seconds on the clock.

Gianni De Biasi’s men had lost nine of their opening 10 league games heading into the game, which made Quique Sanchez Flores’ visitors the favourites for all three points.

Mario Hermoso gave the hosts hope though as he was sent off in the 39th minute, whilst Christian Santos’ early goal ensured an important three points.

Barcelona won at home to Sevilla thanks to a double from Paco Alcacer.

Whilst, Valencia won again as they beat Leganes 3-0 on Saturday afternoon to put pressure on league leaders Barcelona.

Marcelino Garcia Toral has worked wonders this season with Valencia and his side recorded their eighth straight victory in La Liga thanks to goals from Dani Parejo, Rodrigo and Santi Mina.

Atletico Madrid also won as they ended a run of three consecutive draws by beating Deportivo La Coruna 1-0 at the Riazor on Saturday afternoon.

For the most part of the game, Atleti looked likely to draw once more, having drawn their last four games in a row.

However, a late Thomas Partey ensured three points for Diego Simeone’s side, who put pressure back on Valencia and Barcelona.
