Real Madrid look to have moved on from their latest attempts to sign Manchester United and Spain number one, David de Gea, according to reports in Marca.
Los Blancos have long since been linked to De Gea but it is believed Real coach, Zinedine Zidane, wants to keep Keylor Navas as his number one despite the clubs attempts to sign the former Atlético Madrid man. De Gea almost joined Madrid back in 2015 but the deal that would have sent Navas to Manchester United collapsed at the last moment with a faulty fax machine being blamed.
Real’s President, Florentino Perez is still believed to be keen on signing De Gea and has been a long time admirer of the goalkeeper but Zidane has been impressed with Navas’ end of season form and was not keen for the club to spend so much money on a replacement which he felt was unnecessary. It now appears that Zidane, who has just led the club to a La Liga and Champions League double, will get his way for now and De Gea will not join Real Madrid this summer.
While it doesn’t looklikely that De Gea will be at the Santiago Bernabeu in the near future one goalkeeper who could arrive is AC Milan prodigy, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 18 year old is currently stalling on a new contract with the Italian giants and Real are believed to be monitoring the situation with a view to a possible move for a man who many believe will be one of the games great goalkeepers over the coming decade.
