La Liga have blocked a possible move for Fabian Orellana to Eibar as an emergency transfer replacement for injured Fran Rico despite the transfer being at an advanced stage.
Midfielder Fran Rico underwent surgery on the 29th of September to address the “significant chondropathy” on his right knee and is out of action for a long period of time.
However the league deemed that the injury does not meet the criteria of a serious long term injury meaning that the Basques can’t move for out of favour Valencia wideman Orellana until the winter transfer window.
Orellana was at Celta Vigo before leaving for Valencia after then Celta manager Eduardo Berizzo accused the Chilean of showing an “unacceptable lack of respect” towards him before telling him he would not play for the Galicians again while he was in charge. Orellana hit back accusing Berizzo of being “very disloyal” to him.
He moved to the Mestalla originally on a loan deal before making the move permanent before he hasn’t featured for Marcelino’s side at all in the league this season, his only appearance coming against Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey, and he is now being allowed to leave.
He isn’t the type of technical player to fit Marcelino’s plans at Valencia but the manager praised the playmaker saying, “I have always said that he has had a respectful and collaborative behaviour, he is a player like any other person.”
As well as Eibar, old club Celta and Las Palmas were rumoured to be interested in the midfielder but only the Basques have followed up their interest.
Despite the fact he isn’t allowed to join just now, it looks almost certain that he will join Eibar in the January window.
