Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has opened the door for Neymar to move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Cast your mind back to the summer and those sensational talks of Neymar leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint Germain began and materialised.
The Brazil international was seemingly happy with life in the Catalan capital but a mega-money move and the chance to lead the line and move away from the ‘shadow’ of Lionel Messi was too appealing.
However, reports in French and Spanish press have since claimed that life is not all too good for the forward in Paris, claiming fall-outs with Edinson Cavani and coach Unai Emery have seen him miss La Liga.
A visit back to Catalonia last week saw him pictured with Messi and the Barca team, but a move back to the Camp Nou is extremely unlikely – given the nature he left, which included a training ground dust up with new signing Nelson Semedo.
That has opened up another possibility with reports coming in from Spain that Real Madrid are considering a move.
And, Madrid captain Ramos has been weighing in on the talk, saying he would welcome the former Santos man to the club.
“I want to have the best players and Neymar is one of them,” Ramos told El Larguero.
Barca officials have been fully aware that Madrid’s intentions have been to make a move for the former Santos player for sometime and that his move to PSG could simply have been a ‘stepping stone’.
“He might have believed it was easier to join PSG first rather join Madrid directly from Barcelona, I hope this is the case and in football you can never know. ” Ramos continued.
“He would bring a lot of quality to our team, I would open the door if he wants to join in winter.”
Florentino Perez has seen his bigger stars at the Santiago Bernabeu fail this season and question marks have begun over the future of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and even, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has scored just once in the league this season.
Reports in Spain and France claim Neymar’s father has met with Perez to discuss various things, in particular the role and potential of a move for his son.
Whilst Neymar is fully committed to PSG this season – many feel he was similarly committed to Barcelona, given his relationship with Leo Messi and Luis Suarez.
