Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has suffered an injury just days after returning to full fitness.
A calf problem has kept the 28-year-old out since September but the Spanish club confirmed a fibrillar rupture to his left abductor on Thursday.
The recovery period for the injury is typically between two and six weeks.
The Welsh international left White Hart Lane in 2013 and has since won Champions League and La Liga honours with Real Madrid, however, injury problems have left his place in the starting eleven questionable.
The former Spurs player has had a total of 12 injuries at the Spanish club, missing a total of 185 days.
Both former club Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are keen and it is now understood that Madrid officials are planning a tentative move to offer his services elsewhere.
With Bale now out injured, the likes of Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asensio can continue their rise in a Madrid shirt, with both impressing Zidane enough to warrant starts ahead of both Bale and Karim Benzema this season, whilst Isco is also consolidating his place in the side.
Madrid who entered the international break, beating Las Palmas 3-0 at Santiago Bernabeu, must prepare to face city rivals Atletico Madrid this weekend in the Madrid derby.
