Atletico Madrid have reached an historic landmark as they announced they had now got 115,000 members linked to the club.
Madrid success in recent seasons has seen their club rise and with it – there supporters are now following suit.
Despite, their poor Champions League run this term, the fans of Diego Simeone’s side have not lost faith and it is understood 1,500 fans have already bought a ticket for the upcoming game against Chelsea.
The amount travelling is yet another show of loyaly, having already seen 1,200 travel when they faced Leicester City last season and 2,500 in the 2013/2014 season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Atletico fans of course have also shown their fine support domestically and there are only 1,000 tickets available for this weekend’s fixture at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Today, the club thanked their fans for their incredible support as the 115,000th member signed on.
The club report that 2% of their fans live outside of Spain, whilst 39% live in the Spanish capital.
The rise shows a massive increase from their last increase as in November 2015 they announced 80,000 members.
A steady start to the domestic season has seen Simeone’s men remain unbeaten, drawing with Barcelona along the way.
This weekend’s tie with Zinedine Zidane’s men could see them lose that record, but Simeone will be delighted to welcome back Koke and Yannick Carrasco from injury.
