Corinthians defender Guilherme Arana is set to join Sevilla and claims there has been no contact from Barcelona.
Arana, 20, has been linked with a move to Europe for some time, having been a feature of claims from Catalan media that a move to Barcelona could materialise.
Barca have been keen to add defensive options but the Brazilian defender has been quick to deny such claims, whilst claiming that he will move to Spain.
“From Barcelona, nothing official arrived to me, only from Sevilla.
“I can’t even talk, I just have to thank Corinthians. I have always made it clear what my dream was. I want to play in Europe, and it’s very close to happening. I’m very happy about it.”
Corinthians reportedly turned down three offers from un-named European sides for the defender, who remains on contract until the end of 2019 with the Brazilian side.
According to El Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla will pay Corinthians €11 million for Arana, who will sign a contract until June 2022.
Arana, began his career with Corinthians, joining the club as a youngster in 2005. Having spent time on loan with Atletico Paranaense, the defender has feautured for Brazil’s U20 side.
Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo has sixth in the La Liga standings have been relatively solid in defence, having conceded just 11 goals in 11 games.
After losing to Barcelona 2-1 before the international break – Berizzo’s side will face Celta Vigo this weekend at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
