Real Sociedad visit this season’s giant killers, Girona, knowing a win will close the gap on the European spots.
The newly promoted Catalan side are in superb form, having won their last league games, whilst Sociedad are also on a good run, having won three of their last four in all competitions.
Although the Basque visitors enter the game as favourites to seal three points; they will be wary of the hosts, who have taken points off teams like Real Madrid – beating Zinedine Zidane’s side 2-1 in round 10.
Friday 17th November 2017 – Estadi Montilivi – 8pm GMT – Sky Sports
La Real travel without Mexican Carlos Vela and Imanol Agirretxe due to injury, whilst Pedro Alcala, Pere Pons and Jose Suarez are ruled out for the home side.
Mikel Oyarzabal has been in superb form for Sociedad this season, scoring seven goals and gaining two assists in 11 games; making him the player to watch in Friday evening’s game.
Girona, haven’t been heralded for individual performances this season, but instead their ethic and teamwork has been heavily praised.
LAST TIME OUT: Levante 1-2 Girona / Real Sociedad 3-1 Eibar
Pablo Maffeo, on loan from Manchester City, has been a revelation, having caught the eye with some good performances, including one against Barcelona, where he man marked Lionel Messi.
The youngster will likely be tasked with keeping Oyarzabal quiet, making that the key battle in the game.
A win for Sociedad will put them level with Villarreal until Saturday, while the home side could draw level with the visitors if they win.
