Nolito scored the winning goal to ensure Sevilla beat Celta Vigo on Saturday afternoon.
It was written in the stars as former Celta Vigo winger Nolito bagged a goal against his former club to secure all three points.
Saturday’s fixture started in bad for the home side as Maxi Gomez fired the Galician side into the lead on 13 minutes.
The striker, who has been linked with a move to China in recent weeks has been Celta’s main goal threat this season and his goal gave them belief of three points at a noisy and packed Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
However, Sevilla’s reward came when Luis Muriel, levelled the scores nine minutes before the half time break.
From the restart, Eduard Berizzo’s side were instantly on top and with three minutes played into the second half, Nolito pounced to net against his former club.
Elsewhere, Valencia beat Espanyol 2-0 on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Geoffrey Kondogbia and Santi Mina in a result which keeps them in touching distance of Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Barca who played Leganes on Sunday secured another three points thanks to goals from Luis Suarez (2) and Paulinho, whilst Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, who sit third and fourth, respectively – drew 0-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano.
