Spanish Papers: Marca distract Real Madrid form with Valencia praiseNovember 20, 2017
Good Morning and welcome to our round-up of Monday morning’s Spanish papers, where Marca have celebrated Valencia’s win over Espanyol.
The Madrid derby seems long forgotten as Marca feature Geoffrey Kondogbia and Santi Mina on the front page of the Monday morning cover.
With Barcelona beating Leganes on Saturday 3-0, pressure was on Valencia to maintain their impressive run and make next weekend’s clash between the top two a eye-catching clash.
In truth, it wasn’t Los Che’s best performance of the season as their Catalan hosts had the best chances of the first half.
Gerard Moreno and Sergi Darder both came close, hitting the post with their respective efforts.
However, despite their domination, the home side fell behind when French midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia scored a 25-yard cracker.
Santi Mina scored a late second as Valencia secured an eighth straight win, and moved to within four points of league leaders Barcelona.
One sour point for the visitors was the dismissal of Marcelino, who was sent to the stands and will now miss the game against Barca next weekend at the Mestalla.
AS look at Sergio Ramos’ injury, saying he will not feature in the Champions League this week, but will play in a mask against Malaga at the weekend. Whilst, they also pick up on Antoine Griezmann’s troubles.
Meanwhile, over in Catalonia.
Mundo Deportivo celebrate Barcelona’s impressive ten-point gap over Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, before promoting the game with Valencia on Sunday evening.
