Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo has reportedly been diagnosed with cancer and informed his players during the half time break against Liverpool on Tuesday evening.
The Andalusian club will hold a press conference on Wednesday to confirm the reports that former Celta Vigo coach Berizzo has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Sevillainfo.es were among the first to break the news that the Argentine coach had been diagnosed with the illness and that he informed his players during the break at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Further claims state Berizzo will undergo treatment and will need an operation but confirmation is next on the agenda for the La Liga club.
Goals from Roberto Firmino (2) and Sadio Mane gave Liverpool a 3-0 lead after half-an-hour in the Champions League clash but an inspired comeback from the home side saw them level it up.
Wissam Ben Yedder, who has been a revelation in the competition this season – bagged an impressive brace, before Guido Pizarro sent the home fans into raptures in the 94th minute of time.
Whilst reports claim Berizzo told his players at half-time of his diagnosis; the squad can be seen following the full-time whistle gathering together on the pitch, in what many believe was a show of unity for their coach.
