Real Madrid will hold a presidential election in June, as expected, which could see Florentino Perez leave his role at the club.
The La Liga and Champions League champions officially announced the decision via their website and called for election of the club president and membership of the board of directors later this month.
The club’s electoral board confirmed the news, which will now see potential candidates apply between June 9 and June 18, after which a date to hold a vote will be decided.
It is expected that current president Perez will be elected again, like he did in 2009 and 2013 and his promise of signing a vary of young stars is likely to win the vote once more.
Madrid, who won a LaLiga and Champions League double in 2016-17, have been linked with Manchester United’s David De Gea and Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.
