Barcelona will sell both Arda Turan and Andre Gomes in the January transfer window to subsidise the wage demands of Mesut Ozil.
Germany international Ozil is free to discuss terms with any club from January 1st as he enters the last year of his contract at Premier League side Arsenal.
Barca’s interest in the World Cup winner has gathered pace in recent weeks with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger resigning to the fact he will leave the Emirates stadium and preferring a move to Spain, rather than to Manchester United, who have also been interested.
Camp Nou bosses are now said to have put a contract in place for Ozil, but it is not yet known if he will arrive in January for a lowly figure of around £20m or for free next summer.
Ozil, would be free to feature in the Champions League due to Arsenal’s non-appearance in the competition, making a New Year transfer seem likely.
Barca, who are willing to pay Ozil is demands of £330,000 per week are said to have planned sales for Arda Turan and Andre Gomes.
The former is gaining interest from Galatasaray and former club Atletico Madrid, whilst negotiations between Barca and Juventus, who met on Tuesday in the Champions League – are said to have begun over Gomes.
Neither have had ample playing time this season under new boss Ernesto Valverde and the sales of both would allow Ozil to be paid said amount per week.
