Alaves have received some good news after seeing Victor Laguardia be given the green light following a knee injury.
Laguardia was given medical discharge on Thursday morning after spending seven months on the sidelines.
The defender will now return to training but it is expected to be too soon for an appearance for 19th placed La Liga side at the weekend when they host Eibar.
The 28-year-old’s return has been a gradual one and the club will now monitor each session with the hope he can begin playing regularly towards the back end of December and into January.
Alaves have some big games in January seeing them face the likes of Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla, Leganes and Barcelona and with their position in La Liga under threat – points will be vital.
Laguardia played his last game for Alaves on April 23 against Las Palmas, having been forced off after 15 minutes with the knee problem.
His return could be pivotal after Gianni De Biasi’s side suffered another defeat at the weekend, losing 4-1 to Getafe.
This weekend’s game against Eibar comes as Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side come off the back of a 5-0 thumping over Real Betis.
Alaves will meet Eibar on Saturday at 12.00 GMT.
