Midtable clash as Betis welcome Girona to the Villamarin

November 24, 2017 Off By Campbell Finlayson

Real Betis play host to Catalans Girona on Saturday evening as they look to get their league win since the 21st of October when they defeated Alaves 2-0.

Los Verdiblancos were comprehensively beaten 5-0 away to Ipurua on Monday night and will hope that was no more than just a blip but opponents Girona will provide a stern test.

The Montilivi side are on a run of four league games without defeat including their famous 2-1 win against Real Madrid and drew last time out 1-1 with Real Sociedad.

Despite the fact that the Villamarin is a tough place to go Girona will be confident of getting a victory which would see them leapfrog their opponents in the table.

This will be the first meeting of the two sides since a 2-1 win for Betis in the Segunda in 2015 with the Seville side having won five of the six previous clashes between the teams.

Joel Campbell and Zou Feddal are both still injured and will not feature for the home side with Aissa Mandi sitting this one out after his red card at Eibar.

Girona defender Bernardo Espinosa won’t play in Seville due to picking up his fifth yellow card against La Real and he joins Eloi Amagat, Pere Pons and Pedro Alcala on the sidelines for this one.
