Celta looking to move level with Friday night’s opposition LeganesNovember 24, 2017
Celta Vigo hosts Leganes on Friday evening knowing a win will see them move level with the visitors.
Juan Carlos Unzue’s side are the most inconsistent side in La Liga, having failed to gain any momentum under the management of the former Barcelona assistant.
Maxi Gomez’s arrival over the summer has been a revelation, and whilst links of a move to the Chinese Super League continue; his goals are a big need for the Galician hosts.
A 2-1 defeat to Sevilla last time out came following a 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao, much has been their inconsistent nature.
Their indifferent start sees them sit in 13th place in the La Liga standings, but a victory over Leganes will see them climb level with the Madrid based side.
For the home side, Sergi Gomez is injured so former Barcelona man Andreu Fontas is expected to fill in at centre-back, whilst Facundo Roncaglia is still ruled out.
The visitors come into the game having lost their last two games, but to the top two – Barcelona and Valencia.
Overall, though, they have enjoyed a relatively good start to the season which sees them sit about Unzue’s men.
Claudio Beauvue, who is on loan from Celta – will not be available for the game, whilst Ruben Perez has been ill during the week and will face a late test to see if he can play.
Raul Garcia may be chosen ahead of Diego Rico at left-back.
Celta: Blanco, Mallo, Cabral, Gomez, Jonny, Wass, Radoja, Hernandez, Mor, Gomez, Aspas
Leganes: Cuellar, Zaldua, Munoz, Garcia, Salguero, Peres, Pires, El Zhar, Beauvue, Syzmanowski, Amrabat
