Celta Vigo moved into the top half of La Liga with a 1-0 victory over Leganes courtesy of a penalty from Iago Aspas.
The Spanish striker stroked home from 12 yards after Erik Moran had brought down Johny in the box.
The home side started the brighter with Aspas particularly impressive and the Galician forward went close on a couple of occasions early on forcing a save from Leganes keeper Ivan Cuellar.
Visiting midfielder Darko Brasanac picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Nabil El Zhar after 24 minutes.
Minutes later his side fell behind after Johny got in front of Moran who clumsily fouled him allowing Aspas to send Cuellar the wrong way from the spot.
The rain which had lashed down all day in Vigo and for most of the 90 minutes too made conditions tough for both sets of players but to their credit they knocked the ball around well.
Gerard Gumbau drew a save from Celta keeper Ruben Blanco from the edge of the box just over ten minutes before half time with Leganes best chance of the half.
Aspas had a great chance to make it two as he got in behind the defence but his cutback for Sisto was intercepted and cleared.
The visitors were forced into a second change at half time as Mauro Dos Santos replaced the injured Ezequiel Munoz.
Celta continued to press and had a few chances to put the game to bed when Aspas cutback was once more poor and when Cuellar kept Guidetti out from point blank range.
Leganes then missed a golden opportunity to get something from the game when Miguel Angel Guerrero somehow diverted Alexander Szymanowski’s cross wide from six yards out.
The Madrid side drop down to ninth place while the Galicians are up to eighth however both sides could drop down over the weekend with Levante, Girona, Getafe and Real Betis all able to overtake them.
