Good Morning and welcome to our brief round up of the Spanish Papers, which see former Real Madrid defender Jonathan Woodgate discuss Gareth Bale’s latest injury problems.
The Welsh winger returned to action for the reigning La Liga champions on Tuesday evening in the Copa del Rey but has since been told he will miss the weekend fixture against Athletic Bilbao through another injury.
Having missed the majority of Madrid’s back end of last season which saw them win the league and Champions League title; Bale’s place and future in the starting eleven is now beginning to look bleak.
Woodgate, who joined Madrid from Newcastle United in 2004, played just four league games during his three years at the club.
Marca briefly touch on Bale, before focusing on two potential arrivals at the Santiago Bernabeu in Kepa and Mauro Icardi.
The former is currently negotiating a new contract with Athletic Bilbao, but Madrid are keen to push for a move, whilst Icardi is said to be the first option to bolster Zinedine Zidane’s attacking options.
Over in Barcelona, daily Mundo Deportivo seem a little bit more positive, celebrating Barca’s 5-0 win over Murcia which was watched by a large crowd at the Camp Nou.
Finally, they pick up on Luka Modric’s court case.
