Eibar have confirmed an agreement with Valencia for the loan of winger Fabian Orellana.
The Chilean international reportedly has been told by Los Che officials that he has not future at the club after making just appearance on the substitutes bench this season.
The proposed deal comes as a surprise after reports had claimed that La Liga blocked a move for the winger to join Eibar as an emergency transfer replacement for injured Fran Rico.
Midfielder Rico underwent surgery on the 29th of September to address the “significant chondropathy” on his right knee and is out of action for a long period of time.
However, the league deemed that the injury did not meet the criteria of a serious long term injury; then meaning that the Basques cancelled any plans to make a move.
This now seems to have changed with a move now confirmed by both clubs and ready for completion on January 1st when the transfer window re-opens.
“Valencia CF has reached an agreement in principle with SD Eibar for the loan of Fabian Orellana until the end of the season,” read a Valencia statement on Tuesday.
Orellana was at Celta Vigo before leaving for Valencia after then Celta manager Eduardo Berizzo accused the Chilean of showing an “unacceptable lack of respect” towards him before telling him he would not play for the Galicians again while he was in charge.
He moved to the Mestalla originally on a loan deal before making the move permanent.
