Cecchini and Cifu told they can find new clubs

The clear-out is under way at Malaga. The Costa del Sol side have put three players on the transfer list as they look to supplement the less than two million euros in the transfer kitty to bring in the holding midfielder they desperately crave.

As reported by La Liga News UK last week, goalkeeper Cenk Gonen has been told he can find a new club after falling well below expectations, both in terms of fitness and performance level.

However, now, both Emanuel Cecchini and Cifu have been added to the list.

Cecchini, a summer signing who joined to great fanfare from Banfield, has only played 28 minutes of league football so far and is considered surplus to requirements having failed to adjust to the required intensity, despite reportedly fending off interest from Inter Milan for his signature.

According to Diario SUR, the club considers a return to Argentina, where his stock and interest in him is still high, the most appealing option, given their recent experience with loaning players to ‘inferior’ European leagues.

The third player searching for a new club is right-back Cifu who joined from Elche in 2016 before being sent on a season-long loan to Girona. However, since his return, he has made just four appearances (two in the cup) and looks unlikely to dislodge Roberto Rosales as Míchel’s first choice.

Cifu, much more comfortable in a back five, is known for his pace and direct running but is yet to attract any concrete interest.
