Dani Ceballos could be set to leave Real Madrid in the January transfer window, according to various reports.
Having been the star of the summer for Spain’s U21 side in Poland where they finished runners up in the European championships, Ceballos was quickly linked with a move to both Barcelona and Madrid.
The latter were quick to pursue a move and the 21-year-old moved to the Santiago Bernabeu from Real Betis for a fee believed to be in the region of €20m.
However, a lack of playing time has seen the midfielder make just two starts for Los Blancos and it is now understood that talk of a January exit has begun.
A whole host of Premier League sides have shown interest, but it is Italian side Roma who lead the race for his signature.
A report in Il Posticipo and Football Espana, claim that the Serie A club’s sporting director Monchi has already begun brokering a proposed deal.
Ceballos has a five-year contract at the Bernabeu which includes a €500m release clause, but a desire for first team football and his back-up role could see him leave on a loan deal or for a cheaper price.
The former Betis man is keen to get in Julen Lopetegui’s World Cup squad for next summer.
