Steven N’Zonzi has confirmed that he will leave Sevilla in the January transfer window, prompting heightened interest from Arsenal.
N’Zonzi is training away from his team-mates at present after a bitter fall-out with Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo, it is claimed.
The French midfielder is reported to have stormed out of the stadium after being taken off in last week’s Champions League draw with English club Liverpool.
The La Liga side were 3-0 down at the break during the game but a superb comeback saw them fight back and earn a point.
The game itself was much talked about due to Berizzo’s diagnosis of prostate cancer, a problem which the Argentine coach has had successful surgery on this week.
However, N’Zonzi is also another talking point with the former Stoke City man now said to be training alone.
Diario AS report that the 28-year-old has been told not to come near the first team training facility and has now been left out of the squad to face Maribor this week in the Champions League.
N’Zonzi is reportedly unhappy that he was unable to leave the club over the summer after plenty of interest from elsewhere.
And, the player himself has now confirmed that he will leave in January.
“My future is somewhere else. We just have to wait until December and everything will be over,” he told France Football, Marca reports.
“I hope Sevilla qualify in the Champions League and have good luck in the future, but I will not be part of that adventure. What hurts is the way everything is going to end. It hurts, of course, but for now the team is functioning. There’s only a short time left, just December to pass, and it’s better that my time at Sevilla stops then.”
Italian side Juventus have been extremely keen with club officials attending various games this season to cast a watchful eye on the midfielder, whilst Barcelona have also been labelled with interest.
