Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta has told reporters that seeing Neymar at Real Madrid would ‘annoy him’.
Cast your mind back to the summer and those sensational talks of Neymar leaving Barcelona for Paris Saint Germain began and materialised.
The Brazil international was seemingly happy with life in the Catalan capital but a mega-money move and the chance to lead the line and move away from the ‘shadow’ of Lionel Messi was too appealing.
However, reports in French and Spanish press have since claimed that life is not all too good for the forward in Paris, claiming fall-outs with Edinson Cavani and coach Unai Emery have seen him miss La Liga.
A visit back to Catalonia two months ago saw him pictured with Messi and the Barca team, but a move back to the Camp Nou is extremely unlikely – given the nature he left, which included a training ground dust up with new signing Nelson Semedo.
His visit back to Spain opened up another possibility with reports coming in that Real Madrid are considering a move and the likes of Dani Carvajal, Casemiro and Sergio Ramos have all discussed a potential move.
Iniesta, who played alongside the Brazilian has also weighed on the reports, saying that anything can happen in football.
“Anything can happen in football and I would not rule it out,” Iniesta told reporters, as quoted in Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.
“We’ve seen numerous times how there are situations which seem unlikely or impossible but they end up happening.
“If Neymar was to join Madrid? It would annoy me in the sense that he wins matches and would strengthen a direct rival, but I’m not worried.
“The Ballon d’Or? Everyone has their own thoughts on it, but obviously a player on Ronaldo’s level – who has won the prize five times – he is among the best.
“I would choose Messi, and he is my teammate which is clear, and for what he represents.”
Reports in Spain and France claim Neymar’s father has met with Perez to discuss various things, in particular the role and potential of a move for his son.
Whilst Neymar is fully committed to PSG this season – many feel he was similarly committed to Barcelona, given his relationship with Leo Messi and Luis Suarez.
