Sevilla boss Eduardo Berizzo has touched on the future of midfielder Steven N’Zonzi after he was linked with a move to Arsenal.
The French midfielder is reported to have stormed out of the stadium after being taken off in his side’s Champions League draw with English club Liverpool last month.
The La Liga side were 3-0 down at the break during the game but a superb comeback saw them fight back and earn a point.
The game itself was much talked about due to Berizzo’s diagnosis of prostate cancer, a problem which the Argentine coach has had successful surgery on last week.
However, N’Zonzi is also another talking point with the former Stoke City man now said to be training alone and after being left out of the match-day squad for a fourth time against Levante on Friday evening – Berizzo was forced to answer questions on the midfielder in the post-match press conference.
“N’Zonzi? It’s an issue that we’ll evaluate over the holidays. These things will remain confined to the dressing room,” he said.
“It’s a technical decision. We’ll assess the situation in a consensual way, for the good of the team and the club.”
N’Zonzi is reportedly unhappy that he was unable to leave the club over the summer after plenty of interest from elsewhere.
And, it is now being reported that a move to Arsenal is on the agenda with the Premier League side set to trigger his release clause of €40m.
Marca have recently cited a report in the Daily Mail that Arsene Wenger is prepared to pay €37m with a further €3m in bonuses.
