Barcelona midfielder Rafinha is set to make his long awaited return to action after nine months out through injury.
The Brazilian international damaged his knee ligaments last season in the 4-1 win over Granada and has not featured for the current La Liga leaders since April.
Having undergone various recovery methods, the youngster is now set to make a return to action.
“Rafinha receives medical clearance,” read a Barcelona statement.
“After an arthroscopic procedure to fix the injury to his internal meniscus, the Brazilian midfielder has been working hard in order to be able to return to action.”
The brother of Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago, was expected to return sooner but a number of problems saw his return date pushed back.
Having scored eight goals last season under former boss Luis Enrique, it is expected that he will be given a chance by new boss Ernesto Valverde.
His return to the Camp Nou could therefore determine the futures of Arda Turan and Andre Gomes, who have found playing time hard to come by this season, whilst Denis Suarez is also waiting in the wings for a regular chance.
Turan has been strongly linked with a January exit and is expected to move on with Turkish and Premier League interest, whilst Portuguese midfielder Gomes is also gaining interest from a number of clubs.
Gomes only joined Barca last summer but he has failed to impress and has lacked minutes this season, following the arrival of Brazilian Paulinho, who scored an impressive brace against Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday evening.
