Barcelona have agreed a deal to sign former Manchester City forward Jose Angel Pozo, according to reports.
The 21-year-old was expected to go on and become one of European football’s top players, but he has failed to live up to those expectations, having left Man City in 2015.
Having started all 18 league games for Almeria this season in the Segunda division, the Spaniard now looks set to move to Barcelona’s B side in the January transfer window.
El Transistor on Onda Cero report the deal has been has been signed and sealed with the forward set to arrive after the winter break.
The report also claims that Barcelona have told Pozo’s agent that the plan is for him to develop with the B side, before integrating into the senior side next season.
The 21-year-old, who was born in Fuengirola, began his career with Real Madrid, before moving to England at the age of 16.
Developing with City’s U18 side, Pozo made five senior appearances, with three coming in the Premier League, but despite being labelled ‘mini-Messi’ – he would be sold to Almeria in 2015 on a five-year deal.
On the international stage, the forward has represented Spain at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level.
