Manchester United have given up attempts to sign Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.
The French forward is expected to leave Atleti next summer and join one of European football’s top spending clubs, but his rejection to move to Man United last summer has now seen them move their interest elsewhere.
Accompanying their lack of hope in signing the former Real Sociedad is Barcelona’s interest, which is developing at a rapid pace, prompting reports that a meeting over the move has already taken place.
United, who are keen to bring in a big money signing next summer are now moving their interest across the capital city to Real Madrid and Welsh winger Gareth Bale.
Bale has been consistently injured this season for Los Blancos and it is said that president Florentino Perez has told interested clubs that he can leave next summer.
United have long been keen on the Wales international, having failed to sign him before he left Tottenham Hotspur for Madrid in 2013.
Bale, has made just five league appearances this season for the reigning Spanish champions but is expected to start Saturday’s El Clasico tie with league leaders Barcelona.
Despite his injury problems, Bale did help his side win the Club World Cup at the weekend, scoring in the semi-final before helping Madrid beat Gremio 1-0 in the final.
