Barcelona are the only side in talks with Atletico Madrid over a move for Antoine Griezmann, La Liga News UK understands.
The French forward is expected to leave Atleti next summer and join one of European football’s top spending clubs, but his rejection to move to Manchester United last summer has now seen them move their interest elsewhere.
Accompanying the English side’s lack of hope in signing the former Real Sociedad is Barca’s interest, which is developing at a rapid pace, prompting reports that a meeting over the move has already taken place.
And, it is now understood that the Catalan club are the only team having made official interest in the France international.
A meeting which took place last week is said to have opened negotiations with Barca looking to sell a number of players before submitting a transfer bid.
Arda Turan, Andre Gomes and Javier Mascherano are all expected to leave – either in January or next summer, allowing Barca to recoup funds for a move for Griezmann and free up their wage bill.
Aside to their interest in Griezmann, Barca have also shown interest in Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool, but it is unlikely a move for both could happen unless further funds are made available.
