Mexican side Cruz Azul and Sevilla have agreed a deal for the La Liga side’s midfielder Walter Montoya.
In a short statement on the Spaniard’s official website they said that he juat has to pass a medical test before moving to Mexico in January.
The Argentine centre mid only joined the Andalucians in January but struggled to force his way into first Jorge Sampaoli and then Eduardo Berizzo’s starting XI, making just seven appearances for Los Nervionenses.
New Cruz Azul manager Pedro Caixinha is a keen admirer of the 24 year old and Montoya himself will hope he can get regular first team football under a new manager.
Montoya follows Berizzo out of the Sevilla exit door after the manager was sacked earlier this week.
The former Celta Vigo gaffer was diagnosed with cancer earlier this month and missed a couple of his side’s games as a result.
His sacking comes after they lost 3-1 away at Real Sociedad on Wednesday night, a result which saw them slip further behind fourth placed Real Madrid.
Steven Nzonzi is another player expected to leave the club in January having not played for over a month. Arsenal are one of the favourites for his signature
