With Barcelona aiming for an early spring clean this January, it may be time for new horizons for another one of Ernersto Valverde’s men as Italian side Roma look at Aleix Vidal.
The Serie A side are rumoured to be interested in the reserve wing back, who has been out of favour this season, behind both Sergi Roberto and Portuguese defender Nelson Semedo.
The 28-year-old has featured just 25 times for the Catalan side since his arrival from Sevilla in 2015, but he did come off the bench to score against Real Madrid in El Clasico last week.
Valverde is keen to move on a number of Barca players in January and recoup some funds to make moves for players such as Philippe Coutinho, who has been strongly linked from Liverpool.
Currently adopting the right side of defence, Vidal is a versatile player, with the ability of playing in midfield and on both wings.
And, it is that ability that has seen Roma identify him as the answer to their lack of defensive options.
Manager Eusebio Di Franceschi has seen Alessandro Florenzi play further forward and he is keen to have Vidal playing behind the Italian international.
Roma director of football, Monchi, has close connections with Vidal from their time together at Sevilla and it is understood that an initial loan move is being sought.
