Today’s La Liga moves: Penalba joins Las Palmas

Gabriel Penalba has joined Las Palmas as the pick of our La Liga transfers on Thursday the 28th December 2017.

The Gran Canarian club have completed the signing of the 33-year-old Argentine midfielder from Mexican club Cruz Azul.

Toni Cruz unveiled the player to press in a move which will see the player link up with former boss Paco Jemez.

Penalba is the fourth Argentine to play for Las Palmas this season, along with Jonathan Calleri, Hernan Toledo and Leandro Chichizola.

Montoya leaves Sevilla; Diop switches La Liga clubs

Walter Montoya has called time on his spell with Sevilla, joining Cruz Azul in a £4.95m deal, whilst Guillermo Arana will arrive at the Ramon Sanchez Pizuan on January 1st in a deal from Brazilian side Corinthians.

Espanyol have allowed midfielder Pape Diop to join Eibar on a free transfer, whilst the latter will also see Fabian Orellana arrive on New Years Day from Valencia.

Elsewhere, a few more January 1st deals have been confirmed, seeing 30-year-old Coke arrive at Levante from Bundesliga side Schalke and Manuel Iturra will rejoin Malaga on a free transfer from Necaxa in Mexico.

The deals for Diego Costa to join Atletico Madrid and Carlos Vela to Atlanta will also formally go through.
