The Segunda Division ended with drama as Huesca grabbed the last play-off place after beating Levante.
A 1-0 win for Real Valladolid over Cadiz saw Huesca in need of three points themselves to secure the final place and they did, beating Levante 2-1. The champions saw themselves with little to play for on the final match day but they did take the lead until Rober was sent off.
Goals from Aguilera and Samuel Saiz saw the Northerners get back in the game and secure sixth place. Huesca will now face Getafe in the first leg of their play-off semi final on Wednesday night.
Getafe themselves had a 3-3 draw with Mallorca, who were relegated along with Elche, Mirandes and UCAM Murcia in the third tier next season.
Tenerife and Cadiz will contest the other play-off semi final and both finished the season in different fashion with the latter winning 2-1 against Real Zaragoza and Cadiz losing to Valladolid as previously mentioned.
In terms of individual honours, Lugo’s Joselu finished top scorer with an impressive 23 goals.
