In our latest feature here at La Liga News UK, we take a look at the players now free to discuss terms with a new club, featuring Eibar’s Dani Garcia.
Having looked at Atletico Madrid’s veteran defender Juanfran earlier this week, we now focus on another Spaniard available on a free transfer this summer.
Born in the Basque region of Spain, Garcia started his career with Real Sociedad, before making his senior debut as a professional footballer with Alicante’s B side in 2009.
The central midfielder was later promoted to the first team in that same season, but suffered relegation from Segunda B and was then forced out to Getafe B.
Impressive form saw him move back to his home town club, but he failed to make an appearance upon his return to La Real, being subsequently loaned out to Eibar, who at the time were playing in the third tier of Spanish football.
A debut campaign with the club saw him make 41 appearances and help them reach the playoffs, which they would win and gain promotion to the Segunda division.
Having signed another loan deal with Eibar, Garcia would sign on a permanent deal in 2014 with the Armeros, and once again – help them gain promotion to La Liga for the first ever.
On 17 November 2015, García renewed his contract with Eibar until 2018, but at present a new deal is yet to be offered.
