Manchester City are interested in making a move for Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez, according to reports.
City are flying ahead so far in the Premier League netting the most goals in the first half of the season, sitting comfortably 12 points ahead of Manchester United.
Boasting with attacking threat, City also have the best defence in the league statistically but that has not deterred Pep Guardiola in searching for talent to bolster the back line.
Real Sociedad number six Inigo Martínez has caught the eye of the Manchester City boss, taking prime spot on Guardiola’s January shopping list as he looks to build in this season’s success, both domestically and in the Champions League.
The 26 year old centre back has featured heavily so far this season, however, his performances have not stopped La Real from conceding 29 goals in 17 games and sitting in 10th place in La Liga.
Should Guardiola and City make a successful bid for the Spanish international, the news will come as some relief to the coach’s former club, barcelona, who have been concerned a move for Samuel Umtiti could be made by the English club.
Martinez is highly regarded at La Real, meaning City would have to spend big in order to capture to the central defender.
