Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois are close to making a decision on their future, after heightened interest from Real Madrid.
26-year-old Hazard’s current contract at Stamford Bridge does not run out until 2020, but Chelsea are keen to keep him at the club after interest from the Spanish giants and are now attempting to improve his weekly wage, bonuses and release clause.
The West Londoners reportedly offered the Belgian midfielder a deal which would not increase his time at the club but increase his annual salary, but that has now been rejected by the player.
Real Madrid have been in constant contact with club scouts over the performances of Hazard and his situation at Chelsea, where it has become uneasy due to the interest.
Interest from the Santiago Bernabeu in compatriot Thibaut Courtois, is also said to have left question marks around Hazard’s future.
Whilst reports claimed that both were set to agree new deals at the club, reports in Spanish press believe that both torn over their future.
Zinedine Zidane is under increased pressure to improve results at Madrid after another draw at the weekend; one which leaves them 16 points behind league leaders and arch rivals, Barcelona.
Madrid’s interest will now see both Hazard and Courtois have to make a decision in the coming days.
