Real Madrid have held an ’emergency’ team meeting after slipping 16 points behind league leaders Barcelona.
The 2-2 draw at the weekend with Celta Vigo has seen Madrid remain behind Atletico Madrid and Valencia in fourth place and a massive 16 points behind Barca.
Boss Zinedine Zidane, who was unable to explain his side’s dip in form following the draw – has now been forced to hold a team meeting on Tuesday morning to discuss the future, performances and situation of the club.
Zidane led the reported meeting, which is said to have taken 50 minutes, before holding a training session ahead of the Copa del Rey match with Numancia on Wednesday evening.
The Frenchman, his coaching staff and players are said to have agreed on a solution to their struggles and are now focusing on the upcoming fixtures.
Whilst, it seems the league title race is over; Madrid are in a good position in the cup and in the Champions League; a competition they have won two years in a row.
Following Wednesday’s game, Madrid will host Javi Calleja’s Villarreal, knowing that three points will be vital if they are to catch Valencia in third place and push Atleti for second place in the league.
