Our La Liga Freebies feature continues with a look at Real Madrid full-back Achraf Hakimi, who is free to leave the club this summer.
Having joined Madrid in 2006 as a youngster, the Madrid born Moroccan international developed his football with the Spanish club’s various youth teams, making his debut for the B side, Castilla, in 2016.
His performance under then coach, Santiago Solari, impressed and enhanced his chances of moving into the first team, making his first appearance on a tour of the United States in the summer of that same year.
A good season for Castilla in 2016, saw the defender make 28 appearances and help Madrid’s second string side finish 11th place in Segunda Division B.
At the end of the that season, Hakimi returned to Juvenil side due to his age and played in the 2017 Copa del Rey final, before which he was promoted to the first team on August 2017.
Playing back-up to Dani Carvajal, he made his first team debut in October, starting in the 2-0 win over Espanyol and his first goal came against Sevilla in the 5-0 win in December.
Interest from a number of clubs has developed, whilst his future at Madrid is not yet known, with no new contract offered.
