Sevilla are set to sign Aleix Vidal from Barcelona, according to various reports.
The 28-year-old defender has been tipped to leave the Camp Nou this month after failing to find a starting place ahead of the likes of Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo, who also operate on the right side of Barca’s side.
Having scored in the 3-0 El Clasico win over Real Madrid before the winter break, Vidal has received plenty of interest from a number of clubs across Europe.
Italian side Inter Milan are said to have made contact with Barca over a potential bid, whilst Roma, headed by former Sevilla CEO Monchi – are also said to be keen.
Whilst Vidal’s presence at Barca is a big one, having captained the side on numerous occasions – it is thought that Ernesto Valverde is happy to sell and recoup some funds, having spent big on Ousmane Dembele last summer, and Philippe Coutinho over the weekend.
Despite interest from the above mentioned clubs, it is now being reported by Radio Marca that a deal to return to former club Sevilla is on the cards.
Vidal is said to have spent the day in Sevilla discussing terms and that a deal is set to be concluded towards the weekend.
The Spanish defender joined Barca in 2015 from Sevilla, but was forced to spend six months on the sidelines due to the Catalan club’s transfer ban from FIFA.
Having struggled to make the first eleven, Vidal has made 25 league appearances during his time at the club.
