With Alberto Bueno’s transfer already completed, Malaga are not waiting around and the forward will soon be followed into La Rosaleda by winger Ricardo Centurión.
Centurión has agreed terms on a loan deal until the end of the season which will see him move from Italian side Genoa, despite strong interest in taking him back to his native Argentina.
“My place is in Europe,” he said on Tuesday in an interview with Closs Continental. “Right now I’m not ready to go back to Argentina. I am really excited about the challenge of turning Malaga’s situation around.”
While admitted the Premier League was “incredible”, Centurión added: “La Liga is a lot like Argentinian football in terms of style. I hope I can fit in and really triumph in Europe.”
Despite being just 24, former São Paulo and Boca Juniors man Centurión arrives with a lot of baggage. A picture of him holding a shotgun emerged during investigations into a domestic violence complaint made against him by an ex-girlfriend in Argentina.
Centurión also made headlines when nude photos of him went viral and which saw his club’s ultras turn on him.
His signing is imminent, after Malaga made space in the squad by offloading defender Paul Baysse, for whom an offer of a little under a million euros from Girondins de Bordeaux was accepted, and winger Jony who has returned to Sporting Gijón on loan.
