Liga 123 Week 39: Top teams drop points while strugglers prevail

Liga 123 was turned on its head in Week 39 as five out of the top six all lost, while five of the bottom six sides won in their fixtures! CF Reus coach to undergo heart surgery; he will miss two Liga 123 matches

Reus coach Artiz López Garai is preparing to undergo surgery to repair a valve in his heart, the club have confirmed via their website. The 37-year-old will undergo the procedure in Barcelona on May 4th. Garai, who had spells at Celta, Córdoba and Sporting Gijón among others during an 18-year career on the field, played in 56 matches for Reus prior to taking the helm as manager in June last year. Granada sack coach Pedro Morilla

Granada have announced the dismissal of coach Pedro Morilla, after just 43 days at the helm. Morilla was appointed on the 19th March, following the termination of José Luis Oltra’s contract. A 2-1 loss at Real Oviedo had given El Grana their third defeat in a row, which spelled the end for Oltra, and the board made the change in an attempt to keep pace with the promotion race. Almería part ways with Alcaraz

Almería have made a coaching change in an effort to save their season after the team failed to win for the eighth match in a row.  Coach Lucas Alcaraz had his contract terminated on Tuesday, following the side’s 2-1 defeat away to Real Zaragoza on Saturday. Gerard out as Barcelona B manager

Relegation-threatened Barcelona B have terminated the contract of coach Gerard López after the team fell to their fifth consecutive defeat at the weekend, a 3-2 loss to title-chasers Rayo Vallecano. The defeat saw them slip to 20th in Liga 123, without a win in nine matches.  Gerard’s position had been in question for a number of weeks, and the club announced this morning that he was being relieved of his duties.
